Founded in 1997, SHEPITEX LLC has always been a frontrunner in processing used clothing and shoes. 65 million pieces of clothing and 53 million pairs of shoes have found a second home to be reused rather than ending up in a landfill. We purchase our clothing and shoes from reputable charities and private collectors located in high income areas.
Shepitex has a very efficient way of processing unsorted goods. The technologies we apply are unique in North America; An automated sorting system that uses machine language to improve efficiency. Speech technology Valvan and a patented system called HyperSort Valvan to price retail items. It uses Artificial Intelligence and a database of 32K brand names to predict the price of our store quality items. FiberSort Valvan to detect fiber types in materials which are processed for mechanical or chemical recycling.
In the USA, an estimated 70% of used textiles is ending up in landfills or incinerators. At Shepitex, we believe that each wearable item should be given a second life rather than being recycled or thrown away. Quality is important to us. Each item sold in our stores is checked on condition by six different team members before the customer touches it. Items shipped to overseas markets for reuse are in very good to excellent condition.
